Tachibana no Kiyotomo (橘清友) (橘清友)

TACHIBANA no Kiyotomo (758-789) was a statesman in the late Nara period. His first name, Kiyotomo (清友) was also written as 浄友. He was a son of TACHIBANA no Naramaro, a Sangi (councilor). TACHIBANA no Kachiko, who became the empress of Emperor Saga, was his daughter. An Udoneri (ministerial equerry). Conferred a posthumous rank of Shoichii (senior first rank) Daijo Daijin (grand minister of state).

He was born just after his father, TACHIBANA no Naramaro, was executed for the TACHIBANA no Naramaro Disturbance.

In 777, when he met Shitomo, a Bokkaishi (delegate from Bo Hai), he was told that phrenologically his descendent would prosper, but he himself would have a mishap in the age of 32. In 786, he became an Udoneri, but as Shitomo had foreboded, he died at age of 32 in 789, three years after becoming an Udoneri. In the Heian period, 839, he was given the Shoichii Daijo Daijin because he was the maternal grandfather of Emperor Ninmyo.
